7th April 2011 Notes: There is No “Dark Side” To the Moon

When we look at the Moon we only see one side of the Moon. This is because the Moon rotates at the same speed as it’s orbital speed around the Earth. Because we only see the same side, some people assume the other side of the Moon is completely covered in darkness all the time which is why we can’t see it.  This is not true as there is no part of the Moon which does not see the light from the Sun.
