4th April 2011 : Note on Mercury’s craters

Pictures from NASA’s messenger spacecraft now orbiting Mercury shows that Mercury has a great deal more craters than our own Moon. … and these craters are more impressive as well. This is because asteroids and comets moving towards the Sun travel at a higher speed the closer they get to the Sun. Therefore the impacts on Mercury will be much harder leaving a much more impressive scar on the planet than what we see on our Moon.
