Jupiter’s Great Red Spot – 5th November 2010

Today we have an image of the Great Red Spot making it’s way around the surface of Jupiter.  This is a high pressure storm similar to our own hurricanes…… except it is massive.

You can actually fit three planets the size of Earth inside the Red Spot which has been raging for well over 400 years.

This gives you an idea of how large Jupiter is .

It is interesting to note that the storm which is the Red Spot is actually 8km above the clouds that are seen around it.
