Neptune 28th Sep 2010

This picture was taken of Neptune  a little earlier today. On the left side of the picture below you will see the star field where the telescope was pointed. See if you can spot Neptune in the picture.

The picture was enhanced slightly due to slightly poor atmospheric conditions today reducing the quality of the images from the telescope.

On the right is a close up shot of Neptune. If you look closely and at the 8 o’clock position, you will just make out the moon Triton.

Neptune has a blue color due to the methane that can be found in it’s atmosphere.
