Globular Cluster M15 – Sep 2nd 2010

Today we show a picture of the globular cluster M15 which was taken overnight.

This globular cluster shown in the picture below consists of around 112 variable stars,  8 known pulsars, a planetary nebula  and a neutron star.

The core of M15 has collapsed and there are a huge number of stars which are packed densely around this core .

It is suspected that a black hole exists in the center of this globular cluster of stars.

M15 is visible from Sydney.
