Processing Images – M31 Andromeda Galaxy (Part 1 of 3)

Today we will process images taken by the Hubble of M31…….. the well known Andromeda Galaxy.

Below we have 3 of the 4 exposures that we will use to produce a final colorised image of the Andromeda Galaxy. As you can see, a fair bit of detail is already visible in the exposures so it will be interesting to see what other details the final image will show.

The filters below from left to right look for light in the spectrum colors of red, blue and green and you can see each one has specific levels of detail based on the spectrum of light that they have captured.

We will talk about the 4th exposure and what it will be used for in the third part of this post.
