Analysis of Clouds for Saturday 20th March

For the last week the forecasts for tonight have shown ideal observing conditions for the entire night. However yesterday forecasts changed and began showing some cloud expected to the west of Sydney which could effect our observing sessions.

To determine what the clouds will be doing tonight and see if there is any chance of observing, Sydney Stargazers has compared the cloud forecast taken at midnight last night with the forecast 7 hours later taken a few minutes ago. This has been posted on the left with the midnight forecast shown at the top of the picture and the 7am forecast shown at the bottom.

As you can see, the picture on the bottom row for 8pm tonight is showing less cloud forecast for Sydney at this time. Depending on what happens over the next 12 hours, this may continue meaning that we have a chance of some observing tonight.

However, the picture shows that there may be an increase in clouds for  11pm, 2am and 5am which may mean we only have a few hours of observing ahead of us.

Mother Nature could change her mind in the next 12 hours so come back to the site after 3pm to see an updated forecast for tonight.
