The Moon and Jupiter – 18th January

Well it looks like the cloud conditions which were forecast for early tonight have stayed away for the time being.

I decided to make the most of it and headed out to take some pictures of the sun as it was setting in the west leaving behind a bright range of colors. I decided that I would not use a scope and would simply use my digital camera . The picture quality was not 100% and there was a little blur and shaking, but some of the images were good enough to post here.

Thanks to the lack of clouds which had earlier been threatening us, I also managed to take several images of the Moon which was beginning to drop low in the sky, as well as Jupiter which was shining bright in the twilight sky.

The picture above shows the Moon on the right with the small dot of Jupiter in the top left hand corner.

The picture below shows the Moon visible behind some trees at the bottom of my garden.
