Tonights Target for Universe Watch – Jupiter

After a few days delay after looking after my sick cat, I have finally begun the first of the daily targets for Universe Watch.

Jupiter (Click to Enlarge)

Today’s target will be Jupiter  and you can access today’s article by either using the menu on the right or clicking on the picture of Jupiter here in this post.It is an interesting thought to find out that Jupiter has 63 moons however when we look at Jupiter through our telescopes, we can only see 4. But then we can’t see the feature of Jupiter that it shares with Saturn….. a planetary ring. The ring around Jupiter is too faint unlike the one around Saturn.

And I didn’t actually know until today but Jupiter’s moon of Europa is actually larger in dimension than the planet Mercury. That is amazing.

Well I guess you learn something new every day.
